You are Awesome!!

So I begin my posting in March...Trying to do a lot of intentional work here..and hopefully sticking to it. Wishful thinking does not work..Planning and writing it down, works!

So I know this girl called Priya Sondhi...an amazing girl, totally inspiring crafter and one of the most sweetest person I am lucky to call a friend ..So she sent this Aaaaamazing background stamp from MFT called All over Roses...(I still don't know how she knew it was on my wishlist) but once I got it, I had to play!!

I made two backgrounds with it.

You have already seen the card I made with the Pink in this post

 

 This is the other card I made.
The sentiment is from Lil Inkers, Embossed in Platinum Sparkle Powder.

Pretty simple, but had to wait till I sent it out to someone who made me shout out with joy!!
I am so blessed to know people like her. I am not a huge fan of surprises, because not everyone gets it right with what I love. I am pretty weird that way.
But this girl...oh!! She found out that I am a fan of Amish Tripathi, the author. And she just happened to know him. What are the odds!!
And she sends me the whole set of books, personally signed by him. I was on cloud nine that day...and to this day, every time I see those books I have a huge grin on my face!! Thank you Anang for being the one person whose surprise I totally loved!! Big big hugs to you girl!!

I have a lot of scheduled posts coming up...and many trios and duos of cards using a single stamp set..

As I am making more than one card with my supplies already out! Why not!!

An Invitation Card

Darn, I'm posting almost after a month and half..and I have so many projects to share!! So lets start the show with one of the cards that I have absolutely loved making!!

So the card was requested by a fella who wanted to invite his sisters over for Raksha Bandhan festival. Now this was new for me...as a sister who is estranged from her brother for almost 3 years now, this tugged at my heart strings. My parents were in town, my back was hurting but I simply could not say no to him. As someone who sheds a silent tear whenever anyone posts something about their brother, this was something I just could not refuse! And it wasn't just one. I had multiples to make. But I had decided, I wasn't going to say no.

 So here it is!
 It's a gatefold card, with a Vellum/Parchment flap inside. The card is closed by a band. This was a big card..about 5.5 x7.

Since the request was for something traditional, I went to town with Gold embossing!! And I must say I love love the combination. It was hard  at first to think of using all these modern supplies to create something traditional looking...because he said no to almost all my Cards!! (imagine that!) But once I was able to achieve it...Aah the damn good feeling sunk in!

Here they are with some of the envelopes. I used some lighter color Cardstock to make the envelopes. Envelopes are 1/4th inch box envelopes..so that the card doesn't get smashed in the mail.

Frame stamp is Inspired by Stamping, YOU is from SSS, ARE word from Winne and Walter, Invited Lawn fawn.  Vellum Border cut from Spellbinder Scallop Border dies.

So this is how it opens up and the Vellum Flap lifts up to reveal white CS for his personal message.

And when I gave him the cards, his WOW!! with a sigh was all I needed to hear!! The monetary compensation was no comparison to that WOW I got. 

I so have to thank Dr. Sonia for her tips on using a border punch to get those freaking amazing and perfectly aligned borders on my card.

A quick card share

Hello everyone!

Here is another card that I made on the same slider technique that I showed in one of my previous post...(Yes, I am working on a tutorial...so a day or two when I can upload it)

I don't have a video of this card...and just two pictures to show!! (Shocking isn't??)Made and given in day!

Its a very very simple...I kept the background  simple. I cut the heart template on an acetate sheet with my Silhouette Cameo and inked the background with it. Since I wanted the silhouettes to be the highlight of the card.

And covered it with vellum to soften the look. The silhouettes are traced and cut from free vector files..

Sentiment is again written with my Sigma Micron pen using Cameo and when you pull the right tab out,

Here is the message you see..

Since it was to be a no fuss, no frills card, that's what I went with...

Envelope made from DCWV stack paper, using the envelope punch board.

Its time to Celebrate Love!

I've finally found my mojo!! And that calls for hi-fives!

So without any ramblings, let me jump onto this card ... and what a way to begin my crafty adventures for this year!!
This is a huge A4 size card...and this is inspired by a card that I only have a photo of, don't know the origin...so if you think you know where it came from, please let me know! I don't really have well clicked pictures, so please pardon me for that!

So let me explain how this card came about. The background is XOXO cut with my Silhouette.
That has been layered over with a vellum to tone it down.

TIP - This is a trick I like to use if the background is too over powering. This is what it looked without the vellum..wouldn't you agree, the little girl and boy are just shifting out of the focus. So in comes the vellum, and the XOXO's fade into the background!

The little girl and boy and the grass and the sentiment , all are cut and written with Cameo.

The little cupid and the hearts are from Mama Elephant. Stamped, colored and fussy cut. Now there is a tiny little fun element to this card....its a Slider card...watch the video to understand how it works..its a teeny tiny 6 second video.

Wasn't that cute!! It took me a while to figure this out, but once I did, oh I fell in love with it! There are tutorials for this out on the net, but if there is a request for it, I shall do it too!! Leave me a comment saying you want a tutorial, and I'll make one!

And once the boy comes towards the girl for a sweet little kiss, a hidden message pops out! This message was a bit personal, so had to blur it!

But I totally loved making this!! And so glad I did, because, I have two more cards to share in a day or two!!

Musical Birthday Card

This is the last of my backlogged posts...that never got done....This project was made way back...In August...and I didn't blog it....Gaah!!

It was to be for a guy who loved music...and it had to be huge!! so This is a A4 size card...yeah..bigger is always better...or so the clients seem to think!!

Each piece of the guitar is hand traced and cut from a free image on Google.

Background was made with my favorite sprays .. Mistries From Die Cuts and More.
The music stamp is from Kaisercraft..one of their texture stamps...

And I did use real wire for the strings! some beading wire.

The Happy birthday and Rockstar is a die cut...from cuttlebug baby face alpha set.

And the stars are glittered and topped with glossy accents!! The whole guitar has an outline of silver glitter pen!!

Kraft and Colors

Thinking of a title name for the post is as challenging as making a card!! And boy oh boy!! Looks like my give-away will come sooner than I anticipated...My blog is already at 74,900 views...just a hundred more and I have a party!!! So what do you want in the give-away? I've given away vouchers, stamps, inks in my previous give-aways....so do drop in your options!!

So coming on to the card..I had brought a pack of Kraft card stock a long time back and never got around to using it....and then I saw Julie's card on Pinterest...and I had to do it. Don't know if flowers qualify on a card for a guy, but this did go to a guy. And I'm hoping he didn't think it was too girly.

 

I white heat embossed my stamps, colored with my Bic markers and a little bit of glitter and the card was done. But there were a lot of failed experiments to get this one card...

 Firstly, not having my heat gun made things a bit weird. I was heat embossing on my dosa pan. Works, just gotta be careful!  

TIP- Try out the colors you plan to use on a scrap kraft CS. Colors don't show up  very well on Kraft CS...the light colors just fade in...so if you're doing watercolors, play around on a scrap first. 

TIP 2 - Bic markers will stain on the white embossing. So be very careful, or use a Copic colorless blender pen to remove colors. I could remove the red with the blender pen, but blue didn't come off easily. 

The glitter pen I used doesn't show well in the pic, but IRL its very subtle shine. !!  I also went around the edge of the flowers with a light grey marker..just to show a bit of shadow...

This is the inside of the card. 
 Here I white heat embossed the border, and added vintage photo for a contrast. And then the words were glued down on the inside

Paper - Kraft from Creativita Store,  Fabriano white CS.
Other - Zing opaque white embossing powder, Sakura stardust pens, Bic Markers, Copic Colorless Blender pen, Pro-marker light grey pen.

My first Marci..

For those who wonder who or what Marcie is, she's a cutest character stamp from La-La Land Crafts.
I had oogled at all those stamps and was very very lucky to win one at a friend's blog candy...It took me 3 months of trying to color her to accept that it will take a long time for me to learn...but here's my first attempt at coloring and making a card from that stamp!

 Here's the little darling colored with my watercolor pencils!! Isn't she cute or what!! Here's the link to the stamp..Sweetheart Marci. She's been colored, fussy cut, and glued on the die cut below.

Its a 6x6 card and the pattern papers are from Pretty flowers(or something like that)  from papermania. The dies used are Reverse wonky rectangles.  Banners are handcut. I didn't have the "I love you " in any stamp, so I masked different words from Fiskars sentiment stamps....and the I was acutally an L that I partially inked!! Talk about necessity being the mother of invention.

 This is an Easel card...the message is printed and die cut with label 8 die. Butterflies are MS butterfly punch..

 I loved making this flower....guess am on a flower making spree!! Made with Rose creations and an MFT rolled rose on top.

Its a pretty simple card, but I loved making it..considering the sentiment that was within the card...and I do know that the recipient loved it...

Sending this card to Crafter's Corner Bingo - I'm playing the middle line, Flowers, pattern paper and stamping.

Blue Accordion Card

This year seems to my monochromatic year....well, each year brings its new craziness factor in me!! This year its monochrome and fancy folds!!

So getting back to the card, this is a remake of the pink accordion fold, but in blue. There isn't much to say, so will leave you with the pics....

Kept things pretty simple...some leaf and flower die cuts. Papers are from the Papermania blue collection. All inked with broken china ink. 

Messages were sent ahead by the client and so I just had to measure, print and stick. 

Loved loved the shine on these flowers....If I haven't said before, if you haven't tried Lindy stamp gang sprays, you're missing something .. zoom in to see how glittery they are!!
The flowers are die cut from a rough watercolor paper, so that they have texture and hold the sprays better...

So that's it from me for now...I have another card coming up, but that has to wait till it reaches the intended recipient.

So here I am sharing my project for Lulupu Challenge #10 - Let's Celebrate.

As the challenge suggests, we were to take inspiration from a fellow Design Team member and create a project that celebrates.... well... just about anything. My inspiration was Isha's Accordion Fold Card.

I loved it for its colors, the gorgeous pink and white scheme. And the fact that I had not done such a cute version of an accordion fold before. But I wanted to give it a twist of my own too...So I made it into a tag booklet.

 I kept the colors almost the same... using the pink and white combo. The paper are all from a collection called Confetties. Using Spellinders Label 8 for the base and floral ovals for the topper. Some bling and a 3D butterfly complete the front of the Tag book. The gorgeous sentiment comes from my newest Papertrey ink stamp.

Continuing the white and pink theme inside. (I think I'm still hungover from the baby girl book :p) 4 removable tags and ample space for writing messages.
This one is going to my bestie who is celebrating her new Baby girl's arrival into this world.
The book closes with a ribbon.

 Here is a little close up of my 3D butterfly. I was over the moon when I made it...and it looks gorjuss in real life. I think it might just fly away!! :D

Coffee Cup Card

Technically its not a card...its more like a tag/bookmark with a pocket inside. Its a pocket tag.

Haven't made anything new in ages...been stuck on my baby scrapbook for ages...reason being, I've ripped 3 pages at least 4 times...so that is 12 pages done again and again. Because I'm not happy.
If I'm not happy giving something, I won't give it. Enough justifications, just came by to show this tag..my one and only card I've made for Valentine's this year...probably the last too!!

It for a friend who loves Coffee, well nothing says Friendship and coffee like a coffee cup! Free hand cut the shape, the lid. The sentiment is computer generated, dies are Couture Creations. Its my first take on something truly vintagey. Loads of distress ink used....Walnut stain and vintage photo. This is the most I could for a guy...how I stopped myself from adding flowers and butterflies and ribbons, my poor heart knows!!

Some brown twine and a punched heart says it all!!

The coffee cup lid slides out to reveal a tag...for a little message!! The sentiment is from Lawn fawn..

 

 No heart is ever complete without some glitter and glossy accents!!

Flowery Engagement Card

Why is it sooo hard to come up with a decent title for my post? Anywho....Here I am with another Engagement Card on order. And nothing like last day panic to push that creative juices....sat till 12 am to finish this...and somehow the glitter makes me all happy!!

Spent all day die cutting and punching flowers to see what would fit right...so since I used these, I have about 30 punched flowers on the spare!!  These flowers made from old pages, and are die cut with the Daisy Head Spellbinders's die, distressed with inks and misted with LSG glimmer mists, Pie Lane glitter balls, and if that wasn't enough, Sakura Stardust pens for that extra glitter.

Sentiment embossed with Ranger's Queen's Gold embossing powder on Parchment paper. Chery Lynn Butterfly glitter with LSG spray and Sakur stardust pen.

This is how it all finally looks....its  huge card...9x7 inches finished size.  Pretty straight forward if you ask me...and yet a lot of work if you know what I mean.

Not much of supplies...but if you want to know any particular product, do post it, will let you know...

On a different note, does anyone want a video tutorial of the cake from my previous post? or Would a sketch be enough to explain....just wondering!! let me know and I'll make that as my next post....

New Beginnings!

Hola everyone!! Back again to post some cards that I'd made for the Crafty JC - Something new challenge! This card also goes for the Bling it on- New beginnings.

Here's my card...

This is a baby girl card for a dear dear friend...she's already got it...so I can post it here!!! I just die-cut the butterfly out from the CS, and added acetate behind the opening. Added a few blings!
Stamp is from 3 bugs in a rug, twine from The twinery and the beautiful Princess Charm is from Artystree Store

Couldn't decide on the white or black background, so put in both...The gemstones I used are the ones on the right...I love the whole sheet of rhinestones..just cut and stick..no need to apply glue!!

Also I thought I would share the Car Keys Charm I did for K...Its soon going to be yours!!

 

Its a cluster charm, and the butterfly is of course from Artystree Store, but the tiny - Made with love charm is from Jovita's Store!! Thanks so much for finding this darling charm for me girl!!!

A Quick Card

I needed a very quick anniversary card, since I'd totally forgotten to make one for my very sweet friend. We've met like 3 times in the last 14 yrs, but never forget to keep in touch over the phone, a simple text or just a hello. What better card to make than CASE my own card, which is a CASE of Erum's card!!

A close up of the bling bling!!

It is fast to make and quick to embellish! This time around I wanted to play with my favorite color combination- white, black and turquoise..and it looks fab..a little bit of bling never hurt anyone..not even if its a card for a boy!! :D

I'd initially used black ribbon, but that seemed to be standing out, so dulled the black with a bit of organza sheer ribbon. Image is again from cuddly buddly. And no white gel pen for me this time..wanted to keep it clean and neat.

Sending this card to Meljens Design challenge Blog. This week the challenge is to use Sparkle. bling it is for me.

Flashback

Amy at Tsuruta Designs has a dare...do you dare to post the first card you ever made...if you see my first card..eeew!! I feel like hiding under my bed in shame...but then we learn, we evolve..And this card was made before I had seen what rubber stamps could do..before I had seen any blogs, before I knew blogs on stamping existed, before I knew of PTI or Stampin Up! . This is quite an ancient card for me...Made in April 2007.

Eeeks! I know...the DP was printed on my printer...and the shiny silver ribbon was a gift wrap...my water coloring skills were at their lowest! But when I see where I was and where I am, I'm glad I found lot of help and people who inspired me along the way!!

This is another one, made in the same month, April 2007. This was for a newly married couple and the vellum is recycled weddng card.. (not their card of course).

This is my second post in 2 days, yeah! the mojo has kicked back in..This card had been running in my head for days, just mentally seeing which paper would be perfect. And then I picked up the stack of papers that Priya had sent me. Just perfect, that combined with my 7 Gypsies paper..super! Been inspired by Wendy Mckee a lot since the past few days..wanted to make butterflies like she does..her creations are drop dead gorgeous!! She loves butterflies more than I do!!

Using Jaya's 1st sketch as a base, I made this. Butterflies are handcut. The only stamping is the sentiment, its a Hero Arts stamp. The circles are from 7 gypsies paper pack, butterflies and PP is papermania, the ones givne by Priya. I loved the effect of brown distressing v/s the black distressing. I had seen Wendy distress everything in brown and wanted to try that, and I really like it.

Cool Cat & Glue and Gloss Tip

Heya Peeps, Its been a long week. Try as hard as I may, inspiration had taken a vacation. But hopefully with this card, things would change. This cool cat is a free download from Hambo Stamps, I love their quirky sentiments, the fractured funnies and limericks..too awesome..
To celebrate the fact that we purchased a new printer (DH brought it for his legal work, but when he doesn't use it, it is MINE!!) I made this card. Love this cat..especially his grin! :D

The image was there, now I needed the sketch. Jaya came to the rescue with a bonus sketch for  her challenge blog, and I loved it. And it is summertime at Simon Says Challenge blog :D. What is better than a cool cat!!

This is her beautiful sketch, and here is my take on it.

There's not much to explain in this card..except for the white lines on the sentiment. Those are cat-scratches made by this cat while sighing in happiness (are you hearing that nasty sound of nails being scratched on the blackboard? I'm sure you are..and you are welcome) :D

Image colored with watercolor pencils, and As usual, my black sharpie and white gel pen. And those rounded corners on the image are made with Shilpi's cut -n-tuc rounded square template.

The sentiment in printed (of course) and says "Purr-fect".The fur-font was purr-fect for this card!

And what would I do without my glue and gloss..I had to gloss his shades!!

I'm so happy to see, everyone's cards are having this glue and gloss. So my tutorial wasn't entirely funny!! It did help some people. And speaking about Glue and gloss, Shalini and I discovered through trial and error, that this will smear your sketch pens, especially your Faber-Castell. So learn from our mistakes, don't make your own!!

And another experiment that I tried was using it as a tacky glue (temporary adhesive) on my unmounted rubber stamps (even the nylon ones). It works. Not so great, but enough that you can stamp the image. It will stick to CD cases, your acrylic blocks. Just apply glue and gloss to the back of your unmounted stamp, just like with the images, let it dry overnight and use it on your block. One tip, press a little hard on the stamp to stick it before you ink it up. Though I still want sheets of EZmount, till I get those, these will work better than double sided tapes! And if you want to remove this glue, scratch it off and it comes off very easily. No harm to your stamps! Try and let me know.

OLW #13, Christmas in July

So I took the theme for this weeks, OLW literally. Built my snow man in July, so guess what will happen if you build a snowman in July? Won't he melt?

I got this idea from Susan's description of the heat..sounded almost like the summer we had here with temps over 45C (115F) with sweat trickling down to places I would not want to mention on this blog (go ahead, imagine if you must)

This snowman image is the one I got from Michele...(Thanks hun, you are the reason I have so many stamps and why I keep falling in love with this hobby) I don't have any other Christmas images and thought, might as well as make it funny since I didn't get a chance to make a funny OLW!

The original snow man is smiling,but I made him frown since he's pouting about being put in the sun in July! He is  melting too, I also added an extra puddle! I ended up misjudging the placement of the alphabets, so didn't get place to stamp the profanities I wanted to..so leaving it upto your imagination! (lol)

The sun is a tiny peg stamp I brought from hobby ideas, love his wicked grin..and his cool shades!

 Pretty happy with my water coloring over here.

Annabelle stamps

I won a stamp set from Annabelle stamps two weeks back and was itching to play with it..It had a beautiful tree image that had my brains whizzing..superb quality of stamps..almost as good as PTI ( I do own one set of PTI stamps, got them in a swap)

So without much chatter (like I always do), here's the card.

That tree had me thinking of tyres hung on trees and used as swing by children, so changed the original stamp a bit to put in a tyre cut with my circle cutter..works like magic..

Brown ink , green ink from hobby ideas,  and birdie stamp from Spardha  (I bought them from her)  and the sentiment is from Stampin Up. Kept it pretty simple . The tyre is covered with glue and gloss(hobby ideas) for that gloss that I love now.

And the birdie has been paper pieced, but its too tiny to tell..

 

And on to another card, this one I got from Spardha as a BRAK (back Random act of kindness) for sending her the envelope tag mini album. I love this card Spardha, thanks a ton for making my day so happy! {{{hugs}}} to you
