My love for bling....

....never seems to end...the day I got my Pixie Dust glitter pack from Pie Lane, I wanted to sit and make a card...but that same day I had to travel...so well today I finished it...and even though its very cloudy, rainy and oh so chilly here (yes, my prayers have finally been answered !!)  I took some pics and immediately got around to sharing it..I'll try for a better pic soon!

This card is by no means my own..Its a CASE of a card I saw on the Hero Arts blog, but I loved the simplicity of it, and having just got my own set..had to play with it...and it gave me endless possibilities to glitter up!!

Yeah, I tend to yap a lot!!

But when it comes to glitter, I don't kid..I love it...and when I'd asked Srinanda of Pie Lane Studio for some Pixie dust glitter, they didn't disappoint me...I looove this glitter...just sparkly and yummy!!  (p.s. Sri, I think I have two same greens in the box :( }

And what helps in making this glitter adhere is my newest toy, Quickie glue pen, a big dry painting brush to dust off the excess glitter and 2-3 scratch papers...use the same paper to catch the glitter and you're likely to have contamination (that psycho glitter speak for you)

Supplies - DP from echo park, stamp set - Be happy  Hero arts, and sentiment - thoughtful messages
glitter balls in maroon.

I think the DP is splash or summer days from Echo park...getting old...(yeah birthday next month :D)
I paper pieced the entire flower and then applied glitter, one part at a time..tried to give a bit of shading in the leaves..and the stem is bronze glitter. I added a few butterflies, but they didn't seem to fit the card, so off they went (just in case you had to ask where my butterflies were!!)

So that's it..oh yeah! before I forget, I've updated my sale page with some stampin up stamp sets.

AWIC-2 Day 7

My internet has been playing spoilsport since a few days..and yesterday it was at its worst behavior..I just hope I'm able to finish posting this before it goes kaput again. Hate BSNL.

Just a simple card..loads of masking...coloring, background stamping (for lack of good paper) and some glossy accents!
I don't know the artist, but here is the card I CASEd.

I wish I had the red pp, maybe I should have embossed the dots and covered in red..anyways..this is my attempt..mind was not at ease..My hubs had a health scare, which thankfully turned out to be nothing!! phew!

Here's a close up of the gloss on the cupcakes..glitter on the cherries..

So that winds up day 7 of the AWIC. Thanks Jaya for an awesome idea..and thanks to this, I have around 10 cards on hand.
And now I'll be going off in hibernation for a while, have to get down to some work which I had procrastinated. I have to finish it by the end of this month. I should be posting sporadically, and of course I will be back to post the winner of the embossing challenge..Thank you so much for stopping by today....

AWIC-2 Day 6

Today only one card...Also this is my entry to the Butterfly blog Linky Party!! Love love butterflies...and so sad to say, I don't own a single butterfly stamp..all I use are internet downloads! (insert a pouty mouth)

This card as CASE from Lucy Abrams..and she can make CAS cards look soo darn easy...love the way she uses digital elements straight on the CS.. I could never do that..You should check out her flickr gallery..what cards!! go to her first cards..they're still the same...awesomeness guaranteed!!!

There's a lot I've changed in my card. There is a vellum overlay over the stamped background, to soften the background. I wanted a text background, didn't have it, used sentiment sets repeatedly...distressed the vellum with Angel pink ink..brads to attach the vellum to the base.
Butterfly printed on vellum, colored with sharpies, a touch of silver glitter. And the card is done!

Adding some eye-candy for all the butterfly lovers who are stopping by from the Butterfly Blog Linky Party!
some of my previous cards!

AWIC 2 - Day 5

This is very late..but can't help it...its hubby's day home and I get only the weekends to spend with him. Finally finished the card..actually again its two cards..two different artists and two different CASEs.

First up is Jennifer Mcguire. Who doesn't know her..who doesn't want to be like her or rather be her?
 I do..
This is one of her very old cards..the utter simplicity of this card is stunning...and Shalini, thanks a ton for those bling bling..as I keep saying to Shobana..one can never have enough bling in life! :)

The colors might be dull..that's what I get for taking pics at 9 pm!!This Valentine sayings set from Hero Arts is fast becoming my fav..(actually its the only one I have, so has to be)

Now what do I do with that punched out heart? I use it in my next card..Now this is one artist you will love..I love looking at her bright cards...super super inspiration..also quite a few CAS cards. She is .Laurie Wilson. Linked is the card that I adore..And here's my CASE..loads of foam tape..I love dimensionals..all the layers are popped up, including the heart.

The colors look a bit off on this card..might get better photos in the morning...
The distressed stripe is a stamp Art Warehouse stamp, Sentiment hero arts, fiskar texture plates for embossing, Memento inks, and bling on the heart.

Just had to show the bling. I hope you're enjoying this journey of meeting my favorite bloggers! I would love to meet your favorite bloggers too...

AWIC- Edition 2-Day 2.

Hey all, welcome to day 2 of AWIC..day 2 and I'm already stressing what to make in the forthcoming days!! Eeks!! I'm a control freak, and if I don't know what I'm doing in the next few days..its enough to drive me crazy!!
Anyways, let me introduce you to my inspiration for today..Ayana..I'm sure most of you do visit her blog. I love the bold bright colors that she uses. There's never pastels or soft colors in her cards.

Here is the inspiration for this card.. The stamp is an old PSX stamp..Rak from Michelle. Colored with Inktense watercolor. Love the clean look of this card.

Two cards? What was I thinking..and next time, remind me to pick an easier leaf to fussy cut..took me almost an hour up to cut these leaves!! Here is the inspiration for this card. As I said, Copics would have been awesome..but..Sharpies to the rescue.

I used a page off Vogue magazine..if you look closely, its an interview with the head of Burberry!! :D
Leaf stamp is from Hobby Ideas..one of the many clear leaf stamps they used to have!!
Thanks for the new stamps Anita!

Sending this to the Simon says challenge.
So that's it from me today. Hope you like the splash of brights today..Now off to think, what do I make tomorrow!! Heeeeelp!!

Five butterflies

I wanted to end the year with a card that I loved. Ever since I saw this card on Tina's photostream and on Hero arts blog, I’ve wanted to CASE it.

But I had no heat gun then, no white embossing powders, no background stamps and no butterfly stamps either. Then as the year progressed, I ordered my heat gun.. I managed to get a printout of butterflies. And in Dec, I finally got my white EP. So everything fell into place.

But this card didn’t come easy. It had its share of goof-ups. . On my first attempt at embossing with white EP, I managed to blow half the powder around my table. I decided to re-do it.

2nd attempt.
And in the process figured out my mistakes.  I used a foam pad underneath my work surface to get good even print (which I didn’t do before), poured generous amount of powder and held the heat gun to the side while it heated and the held it vertically over my image, rather than on a slant which seemed to blow all the powder away! Well the results speak for themselves.

Ok, enough of the rambling, feast your eyes on this!!

The cloudy weather did not let me get a good photo..but this is the best I could get.  Here's a closeup of the coloring, I wanted a stained glass effect..do you think it does justice?

I wished I could have given this card or the butterflies more dimension. I wasn’t sure my sheer ribbon would hold on to the foam tape, so ended up using glue dots.
But as I sit here on the last day of  the year, I love looking at this card on my desk…Have a happy happy new year!!

A Quick Card

I needed a very quick anniversary card, since I'd totally forgotten to make one for my very sweet friend. We've met like 3 times in the last 14 yrs, but never forget to keep in touch over the phone, a simple text or just a hello. What better card to make than CASE my own card, which is a CASE of Erum's card!!

A close up of the bling bling!!

It is fast to make and quick to embellish! This time around I wanted to play with my favorite color combination- white, black and turquoise..and it looks fab..a little bit of bling never hurt anyone..not even if its a card for a boy!! :D

I'd initially used black ribbon, but that seemed to be standing out, so dulled the black with a bit of organza sheer ribbon. Image is again from cuddly buddly. And no white gel pen for me this time..wanted to keep it clean and neat.

Sending this card to Meljens Design challenge Blog. This week the challenge is to use Sparkle. bling it is for me.

See ya soon,

Love is..

in the air..Its not Valentine's day yet, but I had to make an engagement card on request..and well I had been wanting to CASE at least one card by Erum. That girl can take card making to a whole new level and gives "handmade" a completely new meaning! I love how she uses handcut elements in her cards...so this card is a compliment to you girl...You Rock!!
Drop by her blog and see the awesomeness that this girl is...I can't really cut that well on free hand, ..but  I do like this card...

This image is freebie from cuddly buddly..they've got a whole lot of cute digi images and elements..colored it with sharpies and the hearts have a bit of gloss to it..The embossed white paper is with my Fiskar's textured plates..

Just a bit of bling..
That's all folks :D

Will be missing from my posts for a week or two..visiting my MIL for the holidays..Have a Happy Diwali everyone!!
