Anniversary Exploding Box

Hello everyone...this is probably my cutest project ever. I totally loved making it..and I'm still awaiting a reaction from the recipient, but hopefully they love it too....It was a custom order from a friend. To make something, that I've never made before and it had to be PINK.. I hope this is pink enough for them.

This is a big box....its a 5x5 inches square box. There is just one layer, and only 2 extra panels...I wanted the highlight to be the cake.

I however could not get much pics...I finished the project at night..and had to deliver it then itself. Few below are from my cellphone, so a bit fuzzy, but I guess it gives you an idea.

The bottom most panel has a pocket with two heart tags (with butterfly toppers) for the recipient to write a personal message.

This is the top of the box.

This cake is probably my biggest pride right now. I wanted to do something different, and the usual round cakes wasn't too exciting for me. And being a huge huge fan of 'Fabulous Cakes" on TLC, I had to try something new. .I had these mulberry flowers hoarded for over 2 yrs. Finally I used them where I wasn't scared of squishing them down.

The side panels are decorated with more rolled roses from MFT dies and some floral ovals...(Can't thank Khushboo enough for those die cuts and the sentiment sets..this project would be incomplete without your loan) and for the Piece de Resistance...the floating butterflies....those are done with acetate and butterflies from Itsy bitsy. Acetate here is the packaging from Spellbinder dies that I had hoarded, not the OHP transparencies. I feel the OHP is too too thin and floppy.

Loads of supplies used, so feel free to email if you want to know anything particular.
Oh yes, I know you're dying to ask the square cake tutorial...go check out Sazzle Craft, and don't forget to thank her for her superb tute!
I'll be doing one soon too...if you can wait.

See you soon with another crafty post...
