CAS Explosion box!

Yep, you read that right...A CLEAN AND SIMPLE Explosion box...is that even possible?? Well anything is possible....I just chose to keep it simple!

So here's my birthday explosion box....made one after sooo long...and was absolutely glad to try it again...So without much talking....here's the pics....quite a few of them!! :D

Here's the teaser that I showed you yesterday... Loved the SSS dies..but they are a pain to cut..Either that, or I need a new die cut machine! Loads of wink of stella on the balloons and Glossy accents on top of it!

Here's the top of the box...Told ya..CAS! Since this was for a guy, I really didn't want to load it up with flowers unless necessary! I somehow lost the dot for the "i" in the birthday...and realized it just before I had to give it...just added a sad dot!! That's the one thing that bugs me!!!

The box when closed.

Loved this sentiment!! looks amazingly stylish!! And lets pop that lid open....and BAM!

As you can see by the 12x12 paper below, this one is big. Its 5"x5" box...when opened it opens to 15inchx15inch. And the request was for blue and reds....so I alternated the layers...blue, red, blue and finally the red cake. My mind works like that...I love symmetry in everything...

Messages were printed and then die cut..
 The second layer with reds...

The lower most layer with blues..and drum roll please...

My first ever circle cake...it took me a better part of the day to figure this out! But looks good...wouldn't have been possible without tons of inputs from my friends, Nupur and Manu...Thanks girls again!
No project is ever complete without just a touch of butterflies.. I needed something to balance the overload of flowers on the opposite side.  So here went my butterflies!

So there you go! Loved making it.
I haven't mentioned supplies, because there a ton of it...

Just before I go, there is a discount for the Re-positionable spray used for re-sticking the Cameo mat on Snapdeal...just in case anyone was looking to buy it.  Here's the link http://bit.ly/1zgraSL

Ask me if you have any queries and I shall get back to you asap!!

Toodles,
Till the next post!

Another Accordion fold card!

I love love Accordion Fold cards...I love the space it has for writing oodles and oodles of notes!! Its like a card but a hidden album all in one! Check my previous Accordion cards here and here...
So when I had to make a custom one, for a couple celebrating 7th anniversary, I decided this was the way to go!!

So here go the pics! I have shared most of these on my Instagram...so if you don't follow me on IG, please do.. You can find the link on my sidebar.

So these are my newest toys...my new Dye inkpads from Ranger...And they are amazing!! I might do a review of these soon, though I have a few posts pending too! So lets see...but they are 100 times better than Memento dye ink pads. That's for sure!

I had this vision of creating a starry background and the couple being framed in the moonlight!
So these are my failed and working experiments with it. For the bottom one, I tried texture paste, but I didn't like it. Plus the colors of the sky were not too right...so same the middle one...the colors of the sky were good, but the masking fluid  that I used was not right, it peeled off in the middle. so another fail!
The last one I was happy with..

.How did I make it?
The first thing I did was mask off a circle with a post it punch out. Because the masking fluid was not working for me!
Then I picked up my distress inks - salty ocean, tumbled glass, milled lavender, dusty concord and seedless preserves. Once done, I heat set it.
Then picked up my stars stencil from Memory box, and use a ink blending tool, and applied  Frost White pigment ink by colorbox, on the base...I varied the pressure, so some stars are bright and some are faint. After applying pigment ink, I again heat set it. Because pigment ink takes a long time to dry!
so here goes the final look of the card..

I did not want to overwhelm or cover that gorgeous inking so I kept it very simple. The banner, is done using my sigma micron pen (05) and sketched on the cameo. I love how versatile the Cameo is!

A few spritz of Silver shimmer from Lindy's sprays and the card front was done! (click to enlarge the pic and see the glitter!)

The accordion has 7 pockets for 7 tags. All are lightly inked.

And this is the back page of the card, This awesome awesome chalkboard type label was sketched with my white gel pen in the cameo. To give a faux chalkboard effect, I took my white pigment ink and without re-inking on the ink pad, used the foam applicator and brushed it across the black cardstock. And that's it!

I love the Gelly Roll pen and it works wonders on dark cardstock . Leave me a comment or shoot me and email if you want to buy this white gel pen. I managed to get some extra from my craft store! The uniball signo somehow doesn't work this white for me!

Coming up soon, a tutorial for the slider card...

See you soon!

Blue Accordion Card

This year seems to my monochromatic year....well, each year brings its new craziness factor in me!! This year its monochrome and fancy folds!!

So getting back to the card, this is a remake of the pink accordion fold, but in blue. There isn't much to say, so will leave you with the pics....

Kept things pretty simple...some leaf and flower die cuts. Papers are from the Papermania blue collection. All inked with broken china ink.

Messages were sent ahead by the client and so I just had to measure, print and stick.

Loved loved the shine on these flowers....If I haven't said before, if you haven't tried Lindy stamp gang sprays, you're missing something .. zoom in to see how glittery they are!!
The flowers are die cut from a rough watercolor paper, so that they have texture and hold the sprays better...

So that's it from me for now...I have another card coming up, but that has to wait till it reaches the intended recipient.

Exploding Card | Origami card

Sorry about the abrupt halt to the Pattern play class posts....day 4 arrived and hubby fell sick. And I never got around to even finishing watching the class 4 and 5 till later in the weeks. I still have to get a hang of those two last days that I missed...

Today I share a card I made for friend..this year I have decided to send as many cards as I can. Even if they reach late, but they will reach. :)

I chose to defy convention and not call this card by its given name....The napkin fold card..Simply because I've never ever come across a napkin that's folded like this...and I chose to make a variation because I didn't like the band  across it.
Somehow the band made the card feel open and incomplete (???) perhaps...I'm a bit weird that way!!

So here goes my Exploding card/Origami Card

I think I'm fixated on the color red...this is the 3rd red card I've done in 2 weeks!! :) This uses my new Embossing folder from Couture Creations, that I picked up in my local craft store. YES! my local craft store!! Distressed the embossed areas with barn door ink and then direct to paper over the embossed areas for more contrast.

The sentiment is my new hero arts stamp.. and the little butterfly is a Cheery lynn die. Some really small bling stones are on the embossed flourishes.
( So where's the actual card? ) hold ya horses

This is how it opens. Like a Trifold with an exploding card in the centre. Its fun to change things now and then. All panels have the same embossing, distressing and inking. With an edge of deco shells border punch.

I kept the card relatively simple. Simply because in this fold I had met my nemesis. It took me 4 cardstocks to get one fold right. I made and gave it up so many times....1mm off and it would not fold!! Am not touching it for another 3 weeks now!!  Though I now know what all mistakes I did, so might not be so hard the next time around!
The PP is pebbles inc from Itsy bitsy.

And this is the inside. Love love the birthday sentiment. I wish I had time to do more. But did not want to add flowers or flourishes. They're soo passe now. Every card has flower and flourish...and I'm challenging myself not to use them .

And I'm glad my friend loved it....I did make some bookmarks for her too...will share in the next post..

Sending to Crafter Corner's Bingo challenge- Top horizontal row..distressing, rhinestone and ribbon.

My First Side Step Card

When people mean most to you, it makes things harder to make a card for them. Coz you want each element, every thing perfect and when you are perfectionist like I am, you take even longer. This is my attempt number 3 for this card....one I created and couldn't finish...so ditched that, then tried again...left it as a trial, and then finally this one!!

It doesn't help that the birthday girl kept asking me every day for her birthday card...that's how she is!! So I had to make, and it had to be perfect...Following stuff is way too mushy...(please don't think I'm perverted)

So for the sweetest friend that I ever met online...doesn't really feel that I've never met you...Thank God for Blackberry...and thank God for that one phone call at 1 am on your birthday... my life is truly blessed and changed for the better.

Being around you is so much fun....When I'm down, you cheer me up, and you've taught me to stand up and speak up for myself....something that I was too scared to do....
You've made me a tad rebellious and I'm loving it... You boisterous and hearty laugh make me smile no matter how deep in S&*t I am!
I love the crazy planning we do on the BB for our swaps...the ideas, the solutions to the problems that crop up...there is no big a problem that we 3 can't solve!

Having a friend like you has made me realize what friends should be like... You're my yardstick for measuring what my future friends are going to be like!!
So having said all that mush, I do realize that a friend who can teach you to be a better person, enrich your life and make you a little bit rebellious..is worth keeping...unless you piss me off...that will be an entire different story lady!!
So to quote a very cute Quote, "The world couldn't handle two of us as sisters, So We became Friends" A very happy One month Belated birthday Khushboo!!

There's more mush on the card... a side step card from an A4 paper...
